After Yearlong Hiatus, Taryn Thomas Returns to Adult

LOS ANGELES — After a year-long hiatus, adult star Taryn Thomas has returned to the business with a new plan to take control of her career.

“I needed a break to pursue other options,” she told XBIZ. “I just wanted to take some time off, clear my mind and make sure porn was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”

Thomas took a break from the adult industry about a year ago to decompress and study cosmetology. After returning to the industry, she has secured new representation with Lisa Ann’s Clear Talent Management. She’s also made plans to have her breasts enlarged to a D-cup and have liposuction.

“When I went on my break, I didn’t exactly continue to exercise,” she said. “I’m going to get some work done, though I don’t want to look too plastic.”

Thomas also mentioned some difficulty with her personal website, TarynThomas.com. She said she plans to let her current site stay as it is while building a new site that she plans to run herself.

Thomas’ current site is run by Bimini Bucks.

“I just want to make sure that this time when I come into the industry, it goes the way I want it to, and not how someone else wants it to,” she said.

Despite her time spent studying cosmetology during her hiatus, Thomas said she has no plans to pursue make-up design work in the industry. She will, however, continue to plan events through a small company she started during her break: Taryn It Up Entertainment.

Thomas started the event-planning company in the Phoenix suburb of Scottsdale, Ariz., where she moved for her hiatus. Although she spent most of her time securing talent to appear at gentlemen’s clubs, Thomas said she hope to throw large-scale rave parties while keeping control of her career in adult.

“I started doing porn because I wanted to do it,” she said. “When I was working in porn, I woke up with porn, ate lunch with porn and slept porn. It consumed me, and I want it to consume me again, but on my terms this time.”

Porn Found on 25% of Workplace Computers, Study Says

SILICON VALLEY, Calif. — According to a new study released today, 25 percent of corporate PCs contain pornographic images, despite most businesses using content filtering controls. The study showed that 47 percent of the images showed full nudity or sexual activity.

The study, conducted by PixAlert, involved monitoring 10,000 computers in 125 businesses. Thirty-five percent of the pornographic images were downloaded from online, while 45 percent were from email.

“With over a third of all images found created in the last 12 months, it is clear that a significant number of employees continue to ignore corporate policies and in some cases are going to extraordinary lengths to bypass protection systems in order to obtain and distribute inappropriate material,” said Andy Churley, a director at PixAlert. “Corporate officers wrongly assume that boundary protection systems stop all digital pornography from entering the organization but, in PixAlert’s experience, almost all corporations will have a significant amount of pornography on their networks.”

Additionally, 12.4 percent of the 12,000 email accounts PixAlert monitored were “infected” as was 5.4 percent of 26,000 file server shares.

Churley said that companies were particularly concerned when workers used corporate email to send pornographic images internally, or by using their corporate email to send it outside the company.

“While all organizations actively discourage access to inappropriate images at work, our audits show that the reality is that all establishments have a lot of digital pornography residing on their networks that they don’t know about,” Churley said. “Companies are particularly concerned when they have visibility of the number of pornographic images being distributed by email internally or sent out to other organizations using a corporate email address.”

Studies: More Kids Clicking on Adult Sites, Choosing Video

NEW YORK — More kids are being exposed to online adult material, according to a study published Monday in February’s Pediatrics magazine.

Forty-two percent of Internet users ages 10 to 17 said they had seen online pornography in a recent 12-month span, the study said. Of those, 66 percent said they stumbled upon the porn accidentally while surfing the web.

The results of the study were revealed the same day another report said more teens are watching videos on the Internet on a frequent basis.

In that study, market research firm Jupiter Research said they found that 53 percent of online teens watch video on the Internet occasionally and 22 percent of them view video weekly or more frequently.

NEW YORK — Researchers from the University of New York have come to the remarkable conclusion that semen makes women happy.

The controversial study showed that women who were directly exposed to semen were less depressed than those who wore condoms during lovemaking.

The researchers believe that this is due to mood-altering hormones in semen that are absorbed through the vagina. They have ruled out other explanations.

“I want to make it clear that we are not advocating that people abstain from using condoms,” said Gordon Gallup, a psychologist at the University of New York who led the team. “Clearly an unwanted pregnancy or a sexually transmitted disease would more than offset any advantageous psychological effects of semen.”

New Study Shows 80% of Americans Use File-Sharing Sites

TORONTO — Canadian research firm Solutions Research Group released a study that reports 60 percent of Americans believe online piracy is not a serious offense, 80 percent of Americans aged 12 and older use peer-to-peer file-sharing sites and that 32 million downloaded a full-length movie at least once. Twenty million of those consider themselves “regulars” and have downloaded in the last month.

Kaan Yagit, the study’s director, told XBIZ a nationally representative sample of 2,600 Americans was used to garner the results. This means the samples’ demographics were proportional to those of the U.S. (For example, if 12 percent of Americans are Hispanic, so were 12 percent of Solutions’ samples.)

Keith Webb, vice president of gay content studio Titan Media, said the results of the study were “scary” and hopes they will open the eyes of those in the adult industry who are not yet fighting Internet piracy.
