Sasha Grey Lands Lead Role In Steven Soderbergh Movie
Academy Award winning director Steven Soderbergh has given porn superstar Sasha Grey the lead role in his new movie The Girlfriend Experience.
AVN Female Performer of the Year Sasha Grey has been cast as the lead in director Steven Soderbergh’s new film The Girlfriend Experience. The Magnolia Pictures production is now shooting on location in New York.
Written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, The Girlfriend Experience explores the world of prostitution from the viewpoint of a $10,000 a night call girl.
Sasha Grey had this to say about the movie:
“To have the opportunity to work for an Academy Award-winning auteur is truly a great honor,” Grey told AVN. “I’ve been an admirer of Soderbergh’s films for years, and I am elated that I have been given a leading role in a character-driven film.”
Soderbergh won a Best Director Oscar in 2000 for Traffic and has been nominated in the past for directing Erin Brockovich, and Sex, Lies, And Videotape. His most recent movie was Ocean’s Eleven and its two sequels.
For Grey to get a lead role in a Soderbergh movie is quite a coup. No porn star has ever been given a mainstream opportunity of this magnitude. If she knocks it out of the park she could potentially win an Academy Award which would change the porn industry forever.
