Sasha Grey Lands Lead Role In Steven Soderbergh Movie
Academy Award winning director Steven Soderbergh has given porn superstar Sasha Grey the lead role in his new movie The Girlfriend Experience.
AVN Female Performer of the Year Sasha Grey has been cast as the lead in director Steven Soderbergh’s new film The Girlfriend Experience. The Magnolia Pictures production is now shooting on location in New York.
Written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, The Girlfriend Experience explores the world of prostitution from the viewpoint of a $10,000 a night call girl.
Sasha Grey had this to say about the movie:
“To have the opportunity to work for an Academy Award-winning auteur is truly a great honor,” Grey told AVN. “I’ve been an admirer of Soderbergh’s films for years, and I am elated that I have been given a leading role in a character-driven film.”
Soderbergh won a Best Director Oscar in 2000 for Traffic and has been nominated in the past for directing Erin Brockovich, and Sex, Lies, And Videotape. His most recent movie was Ocean’s Eleven and its two sequels.
For Grey to get a lead role in a Soderbergh movie is quite a coup. No porn star has ever been given a mainstream opportunity of this magnitude. If she knocks it out of the park she could potentially win an Academy Award which would change the porn industry forever.
Way to go Sasha!

Adult performer Sasha Grey appears in Smashing Pumpkins’ latest music video, “Superchrist,” which premiered on the band’s MySpace page today.
Grey told XFANZ that she was asked to appear in the music video after being featured in the cover artwork for Smashing Pumpkins’ last CD, Zeitgeist.
According to Grey, “Superchrist” will be part of an exclusive compilation of Smashing Pumpkins songs, available only at Guitar Center stores on March 1.
“The video was a lot of fun to shoot, done very simply and with only four or so takes,” Grey said.
In the video, Grey portrays a dark angel, contrasted against a chorus of models dressed as fetish nurses, played by Linda Strawberry, Kristin Burns, Hanna Beth and Audrey Kitching. Lead singer Billy Corrigan remains shadowed, singing in retro ‘70s rock ballad style.
The music video follows after Grey’s starring role in rocker Dave Navarro’s directorial debut for Teravision, Broken.
Grey also has recently signed on to appear in Adam & Eve/Zero Tolerance’s blockbuster collaboration RollerDollz, which begins production in early March and is being co-directed by James Avalon and Mike Quasar.

MIAMI BEACH, Calif. — Adult star Sasha Grey will be at EXXXOTICA this weekend and will be on the panel for the “Everything You Wanted to Know About Porn (But Were Afraid to Ask)” seminar.
The hour-long panel will take place at 7 p.m. today, 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday. Grey will speak on Sunday’s panel.
Grey also will be at the Genesis booth to promote her upcoming film, “The Awakening of Sasha Grey.”
Grey will be available from 5-10 p.m. today and Saturday, and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
Grey also will be at tonight’s Genesis party.
