gfe thumb1 Reviewed: The Girlfriend Experience Starring Sasha Grey

This blog like many other blogs has written ad nauseum about Sasha Grey’s much anticipated leading role in a major Hollywood motion picture. That film is of course “The Girlfriend Experience” by Academy Award winning director Steven Soderbergh. The question of whether Sasha can cut it in mainstream or whether she can act — have at last been answered. After screening the film, the good folks at Fleshbot have posted their initial assessment of the film and thankfully it’s not bad.

First off: for those of you harboring fears that Sasha Grey can’t act, and won’t be able to carry the film—fear not. Though we wouldn’t necessarily say that Sasha deserves an Academy Award (or that she should—ha!—quit her day job), she plays the part of Chelsea—a coolheaded, withdrawn callgirl—with skill and aplomb, bringing her complicated, sometimes confused, character to life with a real grace. We’re not sure if this is a testament to Sasha’s potential as an actress, or if she was simply well cast in this role, but either way, she’s a strong, compelling part of the film.

That’s a relief. The entire future of porn stars being cast in mainstream movies was riding on this motherfucker and it looks like at first glance that Sasha did indeed deliver. Let me be the first to say, I never doubted her for a minute, and I always said she would be good.
