al gore Google Searches Are Bad For The Environment

The Times Online has a moronic article about the environmental impact of Google searches. The article laments the fact that millions of people use Google around the world without any thought of the environmental impact.

While millions of people tap into Google without considering the environment, a typical search generates about 7g of CO2 Boiling a kettle generates about 15g. “Google operates huge data centres around the world that consume a great deal of power,” said Alex Wissner-Gross, a Harvard University physicist whose research on the environmental impact of computing is due out soon. “A Google search has a definite environmental impact.”

The global warming crowd are a bunch of fucking cultists. I don’t give two shits about the environmental impact of my Google searches. In fact, being told that my Googling is impacting the environment makes we want to Google more.
